'Dash'

Dash was born on June 9, 1991, bred by Cathy Niles.  Dash was originally owned by someone else for the first nearly 8 years of his life and then thankfully he happened into my life.  Dash was the most regal and stunningly handsome border collie I had ever seen.  His intelligence was beyond amazing.  His work ethic unmatched by many.  He sired three litters before coming to me and they all went on to be amazing flyball and/or agility dogs but mostly wonderful companions.  I never got a Dash puppy but thanks to Dash I got much more.  He taught me so much that when I look back, what patience he had with me.   Dash retired from flyball at the age of 9 years old and went on to be a fantastic therapy dog.  I took him everywhere I went.  He would go to the hospital I worked at and visited patients of all ages with the utmost kindness and loving nature.  They all loved him, how could they help it.  They loved watching his tricks.  He would play with the children retrieving his toy to them for hours if I would let him!
His last day is etched in my mind forever.  The morning of December 14th, my beautiful boy could barely get up on his own.  He was much to proud for that.  He looked at me and told me it was ok to let him go, the time had come.  I was so unbelievably sad, I called several people who's lives he had touched.  So many of them came to say goodbye.  They met us at our favorite park.  I took the day off and spent it with him in the park just hanging out.  We just sat and watched and talked about all the times we had.  I thanked him for bringing my greatest gift to my life...cause if it weren't for Dash, I wouldn't have Flyer! He insisted on a few retrieves that day, it was his favorite thing you know.  He loved to get the toy then hold it between his feet griping it, looking at you for another toss.  The vet came to my house that evening and Dash passed away very peacefully December 14th 2006 at 715 P.M. laying on my bed in my arms where he had slept every night since the day he entered my life.  He is gone but will never be forgotten.  Until we meet again my Dashy Washy Woo, I love you!
